Photography Question

lighting

I am shooting with a Canon 30D...Previously with the 10D. I have been using my lighting with both cameras for 5 years.
Yesterday my sync cord was plugged in to the camera...but I could not get the flash to fire. Any ideas on the problem. The flash will fire if I test the flash-I ordered an new sync cord today but wondered if anyone knew if it could be my camera.
I was not using a hot shoe.
thanks

Since you've ordered a new cord, your suspicion is the same as mine: A bad connection with the PC sync cord. Broken wire in the cord or not a good plug/socket match at the camera or at the strobe.

  Hi Gretchen,
I have about a dozen sync cords. I have that many because they do go bad, frequently. I don’t trust any of them, but in aggregate I trust them. By the way there is an article about sync in the new Photo Techniques magazine.
Thanks, John Siskin
