Nikon D80, sd card? hey, I just missed out on a Nikon D80 for 300 pounds because of something I read here... the thing I read was a forum about the D80 and it taking a sd card, everybody was complaining and saying that the D80 wasn't worth it because of that only. I don't know to much about photography and so far I've only used a Nikon F-401 (I believe it's 5 years older than I am...), and I really want to upgrade to a D80. But why is a SD card so bad? is it really worth it to pay a lot more for a D200? and do the lenses for the nikons stay pretty much the same? Or should I maybe even wait with buying a digi, and stick with my dinosaur camera a bit longer? The questions I ask might not seem to complicated, but as I said.. I've just picked up photography, I'm very keen and I wish to study photography in sweden. Thanks before hand.

I've been using SD cards for three years and have never had a problem. I've own the D80 since March 07, and it seems to be a very nice camera.

The people that were complaining about the D80 were probably discussing the idea of upgrading from an earlier Nikon digital like the D70. The D70 uses Compact Flash cards, but the D80 uses SD cards. So it would mean having to buy new cards. There's nothing wrong with SD cards, unless you happen to already own a bunch of CF cards. Chris A. Vedros

As far as the D200, YES! it is worth it! it's a whole different class then the D80/D70 cameras in it's constuction. I still have the D70 and it is a great camera, But the wow factor in the D200 is worth it, built to be more on the Pro end. See Nikons Comparision: http://www.nikonusa.com/fileuploads/pdfs/DSLRCompare.pdf See outside comparisons: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.php?method=sidebyside&cameras=nikon_d80%2Cnikon_d200&show=all Yes, they do accept the same Lens (D70/D200/D80/Fuji S2,S3,S1,S5)

Evita the price 0f SD memory cards is so low, I purchased a 2 gig for $29.00 after rebate, compared to the price of the camera and lens, I don't think you should let the cards alter your decision. Bernard

Evita, The original F-401 camera came out in 1987 so it was a bit difficult to find correct info. It looks to accepts E lens. Lens mount Nikon bayonet mount Lenses AF Nikkor lenses (except AF-Nikkor 80mm f/2.8, ED 200mm f/3.5 IF, and autofocus converter TC-16/TC-16A), The D200 ect. take the F series. But before you do anything, go down to a local Phototorium and look and handle the different models. The place SD vs CF cards will truly matter is if you deside on one type it is costly to go a differet route later, but not a huge deal. ALso, as a consideration there always seems to be a good market for Lens using Ebay.
