Photography Question

overexposed and blue cast

OK folks.. here goes.. on my canon rebel XTi on bright sunny days everything I shoot seems to be slightly overexposed and has a bluish cast to it... I have tried to up the shutter speed and close the aperture a bit to compensate for it but that only seems to work sometimes.. I have used a number of the white balance settings as well to no avail... any ideas on how to correct this withough a ton of time in photoshop ??? oh.. mose of my lenses have a UV filter on them.. could this be the source of my blues ? thanks for all your help

UV filter doesn't change color. White balance settings in-camera should work, and unless the iso keeps going up, making the aperture smaller with a shorter shutter should make things darker. I don't know how to do batch editing specifically for Photoshop (because I use Helicon for this stuff), but I know it can be done.

Hi Anthony,

the UV filter can hardly be the source of your blue cast. UV filters MINIMIZE blue casts. They don't amplify them.

According to the XTi manual (page 88) you can adjust the WB balance settings for Blue, Amber, Magenta, and Green.
Test what setting you like best.
According to page 89 you can do a WB bracketing sequence. From which you can choose your fav later.

In other words: read your manual . . . !

Have fun!

Dont forget the "sunny 16 rule" (use f/16 on bright sunny days) and I even go higher sometimes.
