Fixing Pictures

Hay everyone Don't you just love spring. Anyway I was out today taken some pictures. I got hope and I up loaded them to our computer. I thought I would use Picasa2 to sharpen and do some saturation and cropping. I get the picture looking the way I want it and save it and it looks like it get dull. It like the picture looks like it has a gloss on it but then when I save it then it looks flat the sparkle or shine is gone. I was doing some running water picture. I don't know what I might be doing wrong why would the picture change after I saved it right in from of me I see it change once I saved it. I hope this is maken sence to someone. Thanks

Are you saying that when you used Picasa to edit your picture, it undid all your edits when you tried to save it? If you are using keyboard shortcuts to save (Ctrl+S) make sure that you are not accidentally pressing Ctrl+Z.

When I finsh editing the picture in Picasa2 I right click on it and click on save. It doesn't seem to be keeping the picture the way it look after I edit it. It goes from Clear and crisp to not clear and flat looking. I don't know why it does this.

I don't know. I guess I would need screenshots, but I'm not sure if that would help.

Heather...for what it's worth, the same thing happens to me. I have several editing programs..including PS Elements 4 and PS 7...but I really like the free editing program from Google.. "Picasa2". It's a friendly program and sometimes gives my pictures a little warmer feeling. BUT...I have the same complaint you do! Beats me why it happens! My other complaint is that when I save an image it seems to change the resolution to a default of 96ppi. If I have the original at 300ppi..I would like it to stay that way when I save from Picasa2!! I hope we get an answer!

Is this problem specific to Picasa(2)? Or does the same thing happen when you save an edited photo in another editor?

W.S I just used another program and it save things with my changes. So it is just with Picasa2. Here is a picture I was playing with before and after in another program you can see the some differents. Were in Picasa2 it just stays the same.

That looks like it's either a bug or setting in Picasa, or a problem in the 'cooperation' between Picasa and Windows.
Time to chuck Picasa and start actually using your new Photoshop. Don't you think, Heather?
