colors after uploading I've not really noticed a problem with the sharpness of my photos after downloading, but wat I have noticed is the color seems washed out. My images are brighter and more colorful before downloading. is there something I need to do to them before downloading?

If you are using Photoshop set the color setting to sRGB. If it's set to sRGB colors should look the same in PS as they do on the web. Sharpness issues can be resolved by sizing the photo to 480 pixels on the short side.
