Cropping in camera

When viewing my picture on my display in camera that I just took with my Canon digital xti, and crop [or zoom in on], can it be saved in camera as the cropped pic[or zoomed in on pic] or is that only for viewing at that point and can't be saved as a cropped photo until after the file is processed?

My Sony (not an SLR) offers in-camera crop-and-save... but I'd never use it, preferring instead to do any cropping on the pc, when I can view the image at 100%, vs. the relatively tiny 2.5" screen on the camera.

My Fujifilm (not an SLR) offers in-camera crop-and-save, too. You can zoom in on a picture you are viewing using the zoom buttons, but in order to crop it, you have to use the menus. You can save it right there, and it shows up as its own image in the camera, and it is its own image on the computer. I don't usually use it, preferring instead to do any cropping in Helicon Filter or Picasa, when I can customize it to my liking and apply other edits along with it. When I do use the feature, it is to save some room on my camera for a picture I don't really care about anyway.
