Photography Question

Batch Processing

I am wondering how to go about rotating a mass of images another way than one by one.

When I shoot vertical then upload them, obviously they don't display appropiately. The only way I know to display the appropiately is doing this one at a time.

This is time consuming and I know there is a better way.

I have Windows XP and PSE 2 & 3. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Rick,

My PSE2 hasn't got batch rotation either. PhotoMechanic does. But that's a pro image management app. With price to match, of course.

Have a look at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/31901. You might find a batch rotation app there (can't check 'm as I'm not on Windows).

But in any case: if you want to rotate a whole bunch of images 90 degrees, you had better make sure in advance that ALL of those need to be rotated in the same direction!

Good luck!

Yes, the all do in most of the cases I am working with, just need to find a faster way to do it.

Hi Kix. When I preview them in their file (ie before PS) I go through them and hold down the control key and click on each image to hilight (just once), then holding down the control key still, I right click and then left click on rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise,(depends on which way you hold your camera in Portrait mode). Otherwise, if I have rows and rows, I hold the shift key, click on the first one, and then go to about the 10th or 12th one (the more you select the slower it is), and then click on that one, all the images between the first and last will be selected, then once again, left click, and select which way you want to rotate them. Hope this helps. I'm sure there is a way of auto-rotating when you d/l from the camera, but can't remember. Also remember that every time you rotate (jpeg) you lose quality, as its a lossey file. (Very minimal loss though)
