  hello shobin,
I have the first version of that lens.it's a nice walkaround lens.i haven't noticed any problems with it for any reason at all and it's at least ten years old.
tamron made at least 3 versions,so if it's new it should be even better.
for nikon?are you getting another camera?sam

  Thank you for the response,

Dear sam, to get Minolta items in India is very very difficult and I don't get anything of it. So I changed my XTSI to Nikon F80. What's ur openion? I think F80 is superior to XTsi, fast focussing and sharp and many more options. Yesterday evening I got one lens that is AF 18-55G 3.5-5.6 Nikkor lens. If you have any idea about all these please let me know.

Thank you Sam. Actually I wanted one or two lenses of Minolta, wide angle 24mm etc. But I was wandering around, not even a single lens of Minolta is available in the market. I was very disapponted and just exchanged my stuff with Nikon. Personally I liked Minolta very handy, user friendly. But this was the reason to change. Nikon lenses are available anywhere and change as I wish. Now I get all the lenses I wanted for Nikon. I shall take a few photos and will let you know. Regards, Shobin

This is an old thread but I thought I would post anyway.

I own a Tamron AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 LD Macro.

I hate this lens. I'll never buy another Tamron lens. This is a soft lens at most focal lenghts. I also get plenty of barrel distortion.

Check out my photos of Providence. I used this lens and was less than happy with the results.

I also own a Tokina SD 70-210 manual focus F/4-5.6. I like this lens a bit more but still I find it to be sub-par.
