New to the hobby. What to buy... I am just now getting very interested in serious photography. I am a digital camera junkie, having had at least 6 or more. (lost count). I have a Nikon S10 P&S and a Sony F828 camera for my more creative "work". But, I would really like to get into the digital SLR category. I am used to 8MP on my sony, so I don't want to go down in quality but also don't want to over-buy either. So, if you had a birthday coming up and a willing husband to pretty much buy you what you want within reason, what would you get? Also, what lighting kit would you buy assuming I know nothing about that but would like to play with backdrops and portrait photography of my kids and some of my dancers (I am a dance teacher). Thanks so much.

Well Tricia, I would suggest that you look at the Studio Photography Threads and take a look what others have started with and thier results. There are those using everything from Photogenic to Britek and Alien Bee. and Cameras from Sonys to Nikon D200 ect. I myself use Nikno D70, D200 and Fuji S2. I have owned Britek, Calumet (Bowens) and Photogenic. I usually recommend Britek and Photogenic depending on hte amount one wants to pay. I do hope this helps, email if you need more info. Wishing you the very best in all yoru ventures, Debby Tabb

Thanks Debby. I appreciate the time that you took to answer. I respect people so much who just have "that eye" when it comes to photography. I will go check those out. Thanks again. Tricia
