The PC version will not be released until Feb.19 although a lot of people have been using the Beta versions which Adobe released for free downloads. If you go to this link and do a search for Lightroom, You will get a lot of information. BTW this is a great Canon users forum. the link is to one section of the forum. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18 I don't like being a guinea pig so I stayed away from the Beta versions.

Its great , now really don't have to shoot RAW. Unless you like wasting time.

What do you mean about shooting RAW. When you use Lightroom, does that mean you don't have to shoot RAW, or is that just a personal preference? Can you do the same adjustments on jpeg shots?

I now have lightroom and like it very much. I still shoot in RAW and will never go back to just shooting jpg. There is so much more info there when shooting RAW and much more latitude when processing your file. IMO it is just personal preference RAW vs JPG, but I will never shoot anything but RAW again.

I had heard that it's best to shoot in RAW and have been only shooting in RAW for a while now. Can you tell me about your workflow in Lightroom? It's a bit confusing for me. I'm use to PS Elements 6.

I have elements 5. I download my images into LR, then I do some adjustments in LR if needed such as boosting saturation or levels adjustments then go into elements to do anything further that I choose to, such as major editing to make selections, change a background, anything that I want to that needs layers work. You can see some of my images at www.wildhorsedesigns.com . Let me know if you have any more questions

I have also been debating Lightroom but I dont know what it does that I cant do with Bridge & Photoshop. I only shoot raw as jpegs are a lossy format so when you save them in one place and then save them again somewhere else, they do degrade a bit. I have even seen a nice looking jpeg that when I saved it again to another drive, it looked like it went flat, like it lost some vibrance and pop. I dont have this problem with raw & tifs. So, is Lightroom that much more effecient & easy that it is worth the $300 ? I would love to hear more opinions as to why people like it. Thanks for the thread Becky, Carlton

I don't have Bridge but have PSE-5 and LR. I am not a pro, just a serious amatuer. I have heard some pros say they can do batch processing which does speed up the workflow. I don't have lots of images that would need batch processing and I don't have a deadline for anything. I do like the controls for levels, white balance adjustment, hue and saturation. These controls are all on one panel and easy to acess. If this is worth it to you, only you can decide. Not ever using Bridge I would not know how to compare. I think you can get a free trial version of LR to help you decide. I probably haven't helped with all this but I do like LR very much. Maybe someone that has Bridge could chime in and give you some help with this too.

Can you resize a photo for the web in Lightroom? It seemed so easy in PSE 6.
