nikon d70 flash brackets

Help!!! I have been doing some research on flash brackets for my d70 with a sb800 flash. I have just started to accumulate the equipment I am going to need for wedding photos and just wanted opinions on the different types from those who have experience with them. I am not looking to break the bank, but I don't want to go cheap and pay for it later! Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I got a Stroboframe QuickFlip 350. It was around $50. What I like about it is it's light and easy to use.

What I don't like about it is when you flip it that puts your shutter release on the bottom or facing down. I find it extremely awkward trying to shoot in the vertical position with my shutter release pointing down. When I hand hold my camera for a vertical shot my shutter release is always on top.

The other thing I dislike about it is it will slip some. There are more expensive Stroboframe brackets that have quick release and anti twist plates. Apparently you can't use these with the 350.

IF I had it to do over I'd get a little more expensive bracket with an anti twist plate. The also have models that fold which would be nice. Mine does not fold.

Good luck!

I use the stroboframe pressT. Not to expensive and can use twist plate and quick release options.
I have purchased an off brand previously, but it didn't compare to the stroboframe.
Good Luck!

Stroboframe has a Camera Flip that will solve Sharon's problem (shutter release pointing down) for about US$70 ;) Hope this helps.

Thanks, Andy! Will it work with the 350? From what I was reading at B&H hardly any of their accessories will work with that model. They show an anti twist to go with the bracket but if you read the description for the anti twist plate it says it won't work with the 350.

It works with my 35mm SLRs WITHOUT any motor drive/battery grip. But I also put a Manfrotto quick release adapter on it. So if you use a battery grip on your 350, there may be a chance that it won't fit (you have to consider the height of the camera, grip and off-camera shoe cord). I will go home and measure the height of base to flash arm
clearance for you later.

About the anti twist plate, there is one for 35mm SLR from Stroboframe for US$13. The list does not have your 350. May be it was due to the list was created in 2004 and the 350 was not aon the market yet. I believe you can use the same one for the Digital Rebel.

Another option is to get your own quick release adapter (I used Manfrotto) and use it's anti-twist plate. Hope this helps.

Thanks again, Andy! It works fine with my Nikon D70. The size fits well. I just wasn't sure if the Stroboframe 350 actually had any accessories. Even though B&H does list accessories it just doesn't appear as though they will work with the bracket I have if I read all the fine print. I also have Manfrotto quick release plates. I haven't tried one of those on it yet. The quick release plates I have doesn't appear to have an anti twist.

I appreciate the help and Anglea for asking the question :)!
