Photo Program What is the program of choice for most digital imaging photographers ? In market to purchase a program but don't know which to purchase. I enjoy cropping, enhancing and being creative with manipulation of images... any recommendations ?

Hi Bob, The number 1 photo editing software is PhotoShop. This software is expensive; however it has all the bells and whistles. Since it is the most popular, it’s the one most photographers know and thus it’s the one they discuss. Using it places you in the best position to get help. I am somewhat of a maverick and I have determined that Corel PaintShop Pro X is just as good for most applications and costs a whole lot less. I remain a fan of this photo editor and its partner Corel Photo Album 6. Together they meet all my needs. Luck to you, Alan Marcus

Thankyou Alan I've used PictureIt, HP, and Canon's Programs even played with Adobe... each suited a need as I grew with my new digital camera. Picture It being the most simple ... and the EOS Canon program being a little more difficult. in time. Now I'm ready to move on ... and was just wondering. Thankyou for your input.

I use Paint Shop Pro X. I am still quite the novice, but I like it because it has a built in learning center.

I say go for photoshop elements, they have several versions with the newest being photoshop elements 5.0. Quite a bit cheaper than regular photoshop, but has most of the major "bells and whistles". Also you could download GIMP for free and give it a try.

I mostly use irfanview for viewing pics. If editing, I use CompuPic by photodex.com Yes, Photoshop is better, but it takes up too much memory.

I use Photoshop Elements 4 and love it - its easy and does what I need, without being toooooo complicated! I've also got Paint Shop Pro, but don't find it as easy to drive :) You might also want to d/l Googles free programme - PICASA - also works a treat and is great for home users - don't know what you shoot, or your skills level.

I recently got Corel PaintShop Pro X and have been playing with it for the last couple of days. Can you do that cool liquify or flood effect with it? How do you do that effect? Thanks! So far, I really like the Corel program. It is just taking me a bit to figure it all out! KIMI

Bob, If you or a friend has any affiliation with the education system, check out Very favorable prices for many image editing software programs. I personally use Adobe Photoshop most often, but have also expermimented with Corel Painter IX too. The best to you on your final decision. Kerry
