This really sounds stupid, however I just shot a lacrosse game and the first 200 or so shots turned out really good, then I must have changed the setting for the rest and they turned out so blurry. The only thing I think I may have done was change the AF area mode to single or dynamic, or back to defaault. I cant remember. Thats the stupid part. Can anyone tell me the best auto setting for this type of shooting. Ive never played around with the aperture and such and I still have gotten really great shots. I have a Nikon D70 with an 80/200 mm af 2/8 lense. thank you so very much

I don't know if the AF would really make a shot blurry; if you notice a setting that makes it focus on moving objects faster, then use it.

But, it looks like your shutter was too slow, and maybe your aperture was too small for your high-zoom/small DOF shots. If you're not zoomed in too much, use a medium-wide aperture and maybe an ISO of 200, and then use a really fast shutter.

It would help if you could look at the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. Using the free Picasa2, you can easily see that information for a picture. If you right-click a picture and select properties, you can also see what type of AF you used.

Ariel, thanks so much for the info. I believe ive got it squared away now. However, more importantly, the website, picasa2 is awesome! I was able to retrieve a lot of video and pics that I thought I had lost forever. Again, thank you! By the way the good pic was set at f/4.0 and 1/1000. So thats the way to go from now on. Gratefully, Carol ps I loved your gallery! Beautiful and full of feeling.
