Given that Old Man Winter has FINALLY arrived here in the Eastern U.S., I though I'd share a few ice scenics shot recently.
Ice formations are among my favorite winter subjects. Each shape and design is unique and quite special.

I'd be interested in seeing examples of others who enjoy their photography "on the rocks".

I just put up a new category on my website for the ice storm we just had. There might be a few in there that would interest you.

  Wow Carolyn!
That must have been some storm!

Around here, they're predicting single digit temps with wind chills well below zero all week.

(...Yippee!) :(

Bob

Yeah it was a beauty! We were without power 7 days. I'm black and blue from head to toe from falling on it, but I got some nice shots anyway. We'll be cleaning it up til June, I bet.

Carolyn, that ice storm looks identicle to the one we got in central Nebraska a month ago. I have a few pics in my gallery of the ice we got.
I've never seen anything like it around here before, when you walked on the grass it sounded like you were walking on broken glass.
I love the pics in your gallery btw, they're simply stunning!

  Great pix Jill!
I really like the ice covered grass and the barbed wire macro.

I may try to sneak out for a few hours today.
The rivers and streams around here are iced up beautifully now. (...Even the waterfalls are frozen.)

Bob

Those are nice, Jill! Camm, you are lucky to have waterfalls around! We don't have any at all around here. :(

I love your ice photos Carolyn! But I have to ask... just how long did you wander around in the obviously freezing cold temperatures taking pictures? :P

Not TOO long. The second time I went out, I fell through some ice and went down on both knees in some water. That wasn't too much fun. My neighbor came up and picked me up on his 4 wheeler. But I made several trips walking around the neighborhood (and falling down a lot) and then one last one in the car the day it started to melt.
