You can set up an account on PhotoReflect.com. After an event, contact the folks or organization involved and let them know that some action shots are available. Word will spread from there. ~ Adrienne Brand, SureLine Studios

Tell us what type of "action shots" you are interested in shooting.

"Tell us what type of action shots you are interested in shooting."

....and, to whom you are hoping to sell them.

Johnny    How go about selling sport action shots. I am in a small town and would like to get my work out to bigger cities but feel they are worth something.

I string for several newspapers here in the St. Louis area and local sports shots are used in all the publications. That is everything from Cardinals baseball down to high school football. Your best bet would be to look into what your local papers would be interested in, especially high school events since the staff photographers canít make all the games. Iím always asked if Iím interested shooting sports stuff because there are so many high schools and with playoffs the papers do not have enough photographers to go around. I usually decline because Iím not real interested in shooting high school games, Iíd rather chase ambulances.

Anyhow, take some of your work to the photo desk of your local paper to show them your work. They may say go ahead and shoot and if (remember if) they use it theyíll toss you a few bucks. A ton of news photographers got their start just that way then moved up to larger publications as a staff photographer. Good luck and good shooting!
