How to have Color in Black and White

If you have a color picture, and want only a certain part of the photo to be color (the rest being black and white) what do you do? I have Photo Shop 7.

Hi Jimmy, this is a very easy one to accomplish.

first, duplicate your background, and then desaturate it with the hue/saturation slider, to zero.

then take your eraser, and choose a soft brush and erase the black and white, to reveal the color layer underneath.

It's helpful to increase the view percentage size, so you can get into the nooks and crannies.

When satisfied, flatten you file.

Jimmy, it is even easier to do in Picasa 2.5! I really suggest trying it out. You could do something similar to what Jessica suggested in Helicon Filter, by the way, but you don't have to duplicate the background there.
