Photography Question

Karim Abiali

Noise reduction

Hi all

I bought lately noiseware pro plug in for photoshop for noise reduction. My question is when to I use it? at the very end before or after sharpening? or at the begining before adjusting levels & curves?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Karim, this is a good question. I've learned that noise reduction should be the second-to-last process (sharpening is the very last) but I don't know if that's "the law" or just a rule of thumb. Perhaps others will offer their thoughts here...

I reduce noise first, before anything, as I don't want to edit and adjust pixels that I will be throwing away later by running the noise removal filter....

Bob & Sipho, I heard the same two responses from different people, still haven't yet heard the ideal way of doing it. Hope we hear form other BP members about how they approach this issue.

You know, it just may be that the answer depends on the image itself. This is the case as far as sharpening settings - one size does not fit all.
