Calibrating my monitor

When I view my images on my monitor at home, they look fine. However when I viewed my gallery from another computer ( at work )all the images were way too dark. Now I don't know if my monitor is set too bright or the other computer's monitor is set too dark. Recently I received the codes from MPix to calibrate my monitor to their machine but am unsure how to do so. Can anyone walk me through this one?
Thanks

  Hi Fred -

This is very common when you don't have calibrated displays. I don't know if you're using Mac or Windows, but both have a way of doing software calibration - the Mac with the Calibration Assistant that you get to through the Displays setting, and on Windows you can use Adobe Gamma.

Neither of these methods are as accurate as using a hardware device, and you can get into hardware calibration for less than $80 with either the Pantone huey or the ColorVision Spyder2Express.

I don't use MPIX so I'm not familiar with their calibration method, but I would imagine they're walking you through the process of using Calibration assistant or Adobe gamma.

Best wishes,
Jon
