Lasting Digital Quality

I wonder if the quality of digital prints lasts for years to come? For example, using Kodak premium photo paper and the H.P. Deskjet 900 series vs. Epson etc. Millions of people have switched to digital only, and hope the quality holds up for the next generations to enjoy these memories also. Thank You.

I do photo retouch on the side and deal with faded conventional color prints every week. I can't image inkjet prints being much worse, but then you can't hang any of them on a sunny wall.
Epson claims longevity comparable to conventional photos with Matte Heavyweight paper, and with their more expensive papers and printers ($900 and up). Consumer Reports ran tests and prefers HP's best paper, or Kodak's. My advice? Archive your best work at 300 ppi on CD's, and wait, while using the present affordable technology. Like everything else in digital imaging, printing will get better.
