Assembly Softbox / Strobe - Need help!

I am very much a beginner - so forgive me if I don't use the proper terms! I purchased a Yake studio strobe/flashbox from an ebay seller - wasn't expecting the highest quality but somewhere to start - anyways, I can't figure out assembly? Anyone have any pointers? The metal rods that go in the softbox seem too long - do they need to bend a bit? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  Hello Carly,

It is difficult to give specific instructions.
Generally there are 4 flexible rods for a softbox, which gives it it's shape. Yes, they are meant to bend to give the softbox it's shape.

Often, the rods, after they are attached to the corners of the softbox, will then be fitted into the "speed Ring" The speedring is a metal piece, fairly circular in shape that will be located opposite the large end of the softbox.

The speedring is what gets attached to the strobe.

Hope that helps a little.

Maybe you could upload a photo so we can help you assemble it. :)

All the best,

Pete
