My question is Im looking for a good portrait camera. Im thinking the Nikon D200. Is this a good camera? and does it attach to power paks for light Boxes? Im thinking of renting a d200 before buying one just so I can try it out. All sugestions would be wonderful. Thanks for the Help. ~Brindah

  Good Morning Brindah,
I own the D70 ,D200 and The Fugi S2 and Though I LOVE the D200.
The Color and richness still does not compare to the Fugi S2.
The Fugi S2 was made with the Portrait Photographer in mind.
The fugi S2 has a High -Definition Color processor (ccd) and 4,256 x 2,848 recorded pixels and producess a rich Portrait.
I had sold my Fugi S2 and Missed it's quality so badly that I HAD to buy another.
The Great thing is it uses al the same lens and flash as my Nikons.
Completely compatable and the usualy includes the software to shoot through and record through your computer, Nikon D70/ D200 requires aditional software.
The D200: at it's largest 3872 x 2592.
The Fugi S2 can be found at some really great prices on ebay, the development of the S3 was unsuccesful in the targeted changes, Making the S2 far from obsolite.
Why do I own both, well the fugi S2 is a great Protrait camera but for sports, you really must plan your shots and will still miss many.
Not being as fast as either the D70 or D200.
I do hope this helps.
Debby

Greetings Brindah: Assuming you plan to do this for more than the reimbursed expenses, did your photography school tell you about getting liability insurance especially when doing business out of your home AND notifying your landlord (if any) that you intend to conduct a business on their property? Just thought I'd mention it.

  Hi Brindah,

Here's a link that compares the S2 to the Nikon D-70. The reviewer's name is Ken Rockwell, a rather well known evaluator of cameras.

http://www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/s2.htm

Although his comparion is the S2 Vs the D-70, (not the D-200) I think you will find his information most helpful.
He has also extensivly reviewed the D-200.
I think after reading his review and others reviews, you'll know which way to go.

All the best,

Pete
