My Wallpapers O.K. I know I'm still a computer idiot but here go's. Why do some images that I took, and have not edited, fit just fine as a wallpaper on my screen and some look like they are squeezed to fit. It's not the center, stretch, or tile choices. Some setting must have been changed, (there are kids in the house that are on the computer alot) or it's me. Please help. Thank you.

Some ideas - First, Check the file extension. I've found that Windows prefers *.bmp's. Second go into Control Panel>Display>Screen Saver. Select the Screen Saver you want and then Settings. You can make certain sizing adjustments and check the rsults with Preview. Then, SAVE/APPLY.

Thanks John, I don't know what you mean about the file extension and bmp's though. I tried the settings, tile, stretch and center.

When you save a file, a file extension is added so that the operating system can find it in the future. A Word document gets .doc, an Excel document get .xls, a digital camera assigns a .jpg extension, Photoshop allows you to change the format from JPEG [.jpg] to the native Photoshop format .psd, another lossless format .tif, and many other formats. One of the original image/graphics formats was Bitmap, .bmp. Windows likes this format almost preferentially - however, it also like JPEG. When I first played with trying to make a screen saver, using Adobe Photo Deluxe [program provided with my first scanner,] I learned that Windows 98 would only accept .bmp files for screen savers. Hence, my recommendation. In Windows XP Pro,there's a way that the sodtware uses all the images in the My Pictures folder. Or, you can create a single image and place it in the Screen Saver folder.

The image dimensions could cause the display to be distorted. You said you are using unedited images, so, I take it that the images are fairly large. I would try to resize the photos close to the display monitor's settings. To find out the display settings, Now, if you think the kids may have changed the settings, these settings may have been changed. Do you remember what they were set to?
