Photography Question

Dust in view finder

I see dust when I look in my view finder. My question is...is this dust on the sensor? When I take pictures black specs show up on my pictures. Or could it be dust in both areas...view finder and sensor? My camera is a Canon EOS 5D. I would appreciate any input on this matter.

Sounds Like You Have Dust In Both Places, You Cant See Dust On The Sensor Looking Through The Viewfinder.
Take a Shot Of The Blue Sky Or A White Wall With The Lens Stopped Down To F16 Or F22 If You See Black Spots You Need To Clean Your Sensor Or Have It Cleaned, Dust In The Viewfinder Needs To Be Cleaned At The Factory Or A Reliable Camera Repair Center Gary...

If you see dust in the veiwfinder, it's probably on the mirror inside the camera. I use a small blower to clean the mirror and the sensor, look in your camera manual to find out about it.

Thanks to both of you for responding. I have ordered a cleaning kit to clean my lens and sensor. We'll see if that solves this problem for me.
Thanks again, Gary
