EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, or Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 XR Di II. Also a good accessory flash is much preferred over the pop-up. 580EX, 430EX, or Sigma EF 500 DG Super are full featured. On a budget, the Sunpak 383 Super is just as powerful, but you'll have to shoot in M mode (don't be daunted, it's pretty simple really).

if your on the cheap, get the 50MM f/1.8 and the 430EX flash or find a used 420EX... also, consider the 85f/1.8 as well. I did a few wedding shots with my XT and the 420EX with the 50f1.8 and got great results..i believe I was shooting at ISO 400 in a very dark room with dark brown wood on the walls.. I also hear good things of the 17-85 IS but its an F-4 I believe so youll really need a good flash!
