Lighting

Has anyone heard of Gary Fong and his lighting cloud? If so, does it work good?

I have his lightsphere which I enjoy very much. Is it the same thing??

I believe the Cloud from Gary Fong is similar to the Photojournalist, but rather than being clear it is frosted white for even softer light effect.

I have both and think they're great (I'm ready to sell my flash brackets) - the Cloud version does absorb a bit more light (i.e. - you lose another f stop or so)

There's also a tutorial on line with instructions on how to make your own out of a take out container (like you get your hot and sour soup in). I'll go search my bookmarks and post the link...

Sorry, was trying to do the neat link thing. Let me try again. Here's the ahref=http://www.flickr.com/photos/potatomato/sets/72157594198483848/>LINK.
If my fancy link didn't work, here's the address:

Hm. To my unprofessional eyes there isn't a big (enough) difference when using the softscreen; the popup flash is still much too harsh for my liking.
To be fair, the difference between the two pictures on lumiquest's webpage isn't very big, either. Will probably experiment with adding an additional layer somehow..

they are winners in my book (esp PJ and the Cloud). The stofen doesn't look as dorky but the difference is worth the Fong
