Model Releases I have heard that if you can recognize a persons face in a photo you have to have a signed release. I was curious about news photos where it is impossible to get a signed release, in cases such as emergencies and/or disasters. How are they allowed to print a recognizable person with out approval from that person?

A model release is only required if the photo will be used for commercial purposes. Pictures used for editorial purposes require no release.
