saved the day? well I was shooting with the pro and he told me to make my flash (on camera) a slave to get some light from the side. The ceremony was right after the romantics so I forgot to turn the slave off. The ceremony (outside) was very dark so I used flash the whole time. With my diffuser all my shots came out great. I could see that something was wrong about halfway through ceremony, because he kept looking at his LCD screen way too much. After it was over (very quick) he came over to me and asked to see my shots. Great he said "something is wrong with my flash and I had to shoot on 800 iso". He called me the next day to say that I had saved the day. I felt great until I woke up in the middle of the night wide awake (think I dreamt about it) and realized why. My flash was adding to his and overexposing. Now I have to apologize, but hopefully he doesn't get too mad, he also forgot to turn off his master.

What speedlight(s) did you both have? If Canon EX, it seems unlikely that having yours going off automatically in SLAVE mode when the pro was shooting would have resulted in overexposure. The master and slaves in the Canon EX system both pre-flash for E-TTL exposure measurement, and the master would have automatically set the slave's output level. But it could happen if your slaved EX was set for manual output rather than E-TTL. I would think it more likely that the pro's problem was the result of others shooting flash at the same time he was.

580ex. yes, I was on Manual. All of his shots with flash are overexposed. From now on I will set mine to a diff. channel and use an older 550ex hand held if he wants it.

he should have analyzed what was going on after 2 or 3 overexposures, fixed the problem and carried on instead of keeping shooting and hoping the 2nd got the shots.

he did give up on the flash and shot 800iso. The other flash was in his bag but everything happened so fast(not a church wedding) that he didn't have enough time to grab it.

hello brady? well I took a nap,old age has it's downside. been a long day,time for a campfire and a few beers.not quite a full moon but pretty close.no pictures ,just to wind down. quite night out here,train moving in from the north blowing it's whistle,carries for miles..3 bats out back shopping for supper,lightning bugs (fireflies) are flashing like an airport runway,,dust rolling across the creek from the neighbor combining wheat..slight smell of petunias and honeysuckle around the gazebo.. tree frogs are starting to talk to each other in a foreign language I can't quite make out.. but yet as I look and try to frame the moon behind the old windmill,i ponder,why?for me and the memories of what was or to share with others how I see things? or do I query why my co-worker killed a spider on my arm today as we were working?it was an unjust execution,it meant me no harm. I took a picture of my neighbors house to him last night of the evening sun glowing across the wheat field behind his place.a slight golden glow on his trees and house. so why am I me? yeah right! does looking in a mirror help?ummm. no. please take care my friend.for we all have issues.how we deal with them is different? out of line and a little harsh wasn't i?ahh maybe. ah well,i may be a better person tomorrow. sam
