BH Photo Video Can anyone refer me to another company that has a good reputation for purchasing camera equipment on-line. I was very happy with BH Photo Video until I got a VERY rude sales person. I would just rather go with another company at this point. Thanks for any suggestions.

Peggy, I'm sorry you had a bad experience - B&H has a great reputation (well deserved, IMHO). Anyway, Adorama and Calumet are both excellent resources as well.

Thanks Bob, I will look them up. I agree, BH has been a great company to work with for me in the past but when a sales person ARGUED with me over an error on their part (which was clearly written on the emails as their mistake)I just did not want reply for a 5th time.

For anyone who read your note Peggy and has any problem with B&H, you should know that every department there, whether it's cameras, darkroom, audio, etc., has their own manager. I've experienced a bit of arrogance on the part of a sales rep or two there, either by phone or in person at the store(s), but it wasn't quite up to rudeness yet. Anyway, those managers are specifically oriented to solving problems that the sales people create or can't resolve on their own. Assuming you haven't been too turned off by your experience there, if it happened again, take advantage of their management to get things resolved, right up to sending an e-mail to Henry Posner, who, I can nearly guarantee, will get things straightened out and quickly. If you want the reputations of other mail-order stores like B&H, take a look at Phil Greenspun's web site, http://photo.net and find the section Neighbor to Neighbor and reviews written by site members over the years of virtually every online camera outfit. If it ain't there, as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't exist yet.

I second what Mark said about B&H. It is VERY worth your time to send an e-mail to customer service commenting upon your negative experiences. Something similar happened to me last year. I got really angry and then sent an e-mail to customer service about the rude and insulting way a sales person treated me. Within the day I had a telephone call from B&H followed by an e-mail. When I returned the call I spoke with a manager who made a very real apology followed by a more than fair correction to the issue. In the end they shipped my order via FEDEX next day at no extra cost; they issued a nice letter of apology and a credit at the store. Basically, they took an extreme negative and turned it around to a real positive and won me back as a customer. It is often worth your time to file complaints with management when you are treated rudely or unfairly. You just need to do so in a professional (polite) manner and give them a chance to set things right.
