In CS2, if you go to "Bridge, Highlight all the photos you want to copyright, ie, click on the first one, then Shift + click on the last photo, then right mouse button File info Copyright status - change to "copyrighted". This will put a (c) in front of the file name. Also, I put a sticker on the back of all my photos, it says: Natalie Howe Photography I am in Australia though.

I tried to do some research on this subject and I'm under the impression that putting a (c) on the photos doesn't really hold water and if the person is going to steal the photo and thats all you've done they'll probably realize you're too cheap or not serious enough to go after them anyways. I just withhold all my best photos and let the models that paid me post them.(don't want them thinking they got stolen from my site) I'm not sure about this and could be totally wrong(my GF says this is often the truth)

Hey Justin, just photographed this weekend at a friends incredible home. I'll send the photos after I've finished choosing the best. I'm trying to convince the GF to head to LA for a shoot Tues evening. BTW it was a FHM mag model.

I looked into the matter and found out that it is only $34 USD to copyright the photograph with the United States Patent Office. The form is only one page long, takes 2 minutes to fill out, you attach the image, and mail it in! I haven't done this with all my photos, just the three or four that I know are worth it!!

Effective 1 July 06 the Copyright office is raising the visual arts copyright fee from $30 to $45. They are raising their prices on everything.

Read every single solitary word and all links on the governments website on how to submit. Also, you can submit a bunch of stuff as a body of work. So, you can do this twice a year or something, rather than all the time. This is the most economical way. There is no other way that will stand up in court. There is no shortage of opinions, but all that matters is that your image is registered with the US Gov Copyright Office. That has some weight. And, a court of law will stand up and take notice.
