Raw .CR2 format

My new Canon 30D raw files have a .CR2 extension instead of .CRW . How do I get Adobe Bridge to read .CR2 files?

Go to www.adobe.com and download the update for the 30D raw format.

I downloaded the bridge and placed into PSE 4.0 - there was something in one of the articles that there was a problem with Photoshop 7.0.

To my chagrine, when I connect my 30D, the PSE 4.0 connector comes on screen rather than EOS Utilities. Then, when I upload images, they immediately go to a state wherein I can't make a great correction possible in DPP 2.1 - namely the correction from RAW [CW2] to Photoshop. This switches the file from 8 bit to 16 bit, 255 colors to 16,000 colors. All the data anyone might need to make 13X19 prints or larger.

Don't know how to eliminate the default to PSE 4.0. For me it's a pain.

Try re-installing the EOS Utilities. As the last install, they may override PSE.

I followed the instructions (some folder names were different) on Adobe's website to download the new camera raw.8bi file, and everything is working fine in PS/CS2 and Bridge now.

The 30D is an awesome camera. I had to use both cameras (300D and 30D) yesterday for telephoto and wide angle shots of tall ships in the harbor, and the 30D outperformed in every way!
