Photography Question

Sandra K. Burnette

On-line Proofing

I am looking for an on-line proofing site that does not charge an arm and a leg for use. I am a part-time photographer and can not afford to pay a large monthly fee. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks.

i'm not sure what you mean by an arm and a leg. I still have all my limbs and have used a few. but, pbase is free (pbase.com). I think mpix has it to for free, they just take a small percentage of sales or something. there are a few others out there too.

I just signed up for PhotoReflect.com. There's no monthly fee or startup fee-- they only take money out as a commission if you sell prints via their site. Sounds like a great deal to me. I'm planning on using them for wedding proofing. Storage and proofing is fee, and it will give the guests a way to order prints from me. Gosh, I sound like a commercial or something. :)

I have been using PhotoReflect for several months and love it. Simple uploads, good reports, good ordering process. You will have to process the pictures yourself however (my preference) unless you pay more for a third-party developer. PhotoReflect recommends a vendor on their sight but does not do any photo processing themselves. I looked at several and liked them. I now have an online proofing link on my BP site. Intersted customers can order directly from PayPal. Haven't had any orders there yet.

Hi Craig, did you have to purchase a certain software befor you could use Photoreflect. I have checked it out but it says you have to purchase Darkroom software befor I can add any photos.

smugmug.. you can get a free site or pay $99.00 for a year and get a pro site.. I use it, and I love it. I upload full size jpeg images and I can print right from their site.. plus if I sell anything, they handle all the order taking, printing and shipping and I keep 86% of the profits! its a really good deal. only down side is, they dont really have too many templates to choose from so all smug mug sites tend to look the same.
Craig-
ps. there is a $5.00 off cupon code in my gallery if you decide to do this.

Pat- You have to download the Darkroom software to use Photoreflect, but it's free.
