IMAGE ALWAY DARK ON MONITOR

WHEN TAKING PICTURES WITH MY CANON D10 USING STUDIO LIGHTS, THE IMAGES ALWAYS LOOK GOOD THE THE CAMERA, BUT WHEN LOADED TO THE COMPUTER THEY ARE DARK, LIKE THERE IS A FILM OVER THEM. I HAVE ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH SOME FLASH PHOTOS. I HAVE RECALIBARATED MY MONITOR WITH NO SUCCESS. WHATS WRONG? I SET MY WHITE BALANCE TO THE LIGHT SITUATION, TUNSTEN, FLASH, ETC.

  Amy,
First, and hoping you have PS or similar editing software, open the image in that software, and check the histogram. That will tell you at a glance whether or not the image is properly exposed. If the histogram is good, then the problem is in your monitor - it may just be getting old and worn out, which is why it can no longer be calibrated.
If the histogram is heavy on the left side, then it's a problem of under exposure from the camera. BTW - Color balance should not be an issue here.
Also, I would never use the LCD screen on the camera to measure exposure. If your camera has a histogram mode available, use that instead, as it will provide you with the same data as the histogram in PS. One way or the other, I believe a histogram will lead you in the right direction for determining where the problem lies.
