group photo tips?

I have my FIRST group photo on sat. Class of 1956 reunion! wow huh! I went and did a look through and light test today and it looks like I
may be able to get by with just my sb600 dedicated flash. I really don't want to haul my lights in if I don't have to. We may be able to do some outside, but it will be around 11a-noon and the sun can be pretty harsh, and she has very little shade. The best room to do the
group is the living room, the pic attatched. I can get it lit up decent if I open up to f5.6, 1/60, but I am
worried about shadows. I am bouncing my flash(diffused) off the ceiling, and there are some shadows behind the lady already and she is a good ways from the wall, the fan is also throwing some pretty hard shadows and there is a reflection of me and the flash in the pic on the wall. There will be 14-20 in the group. I thought I would stagger
them on the couch, arms of the couch, standing behind the couch and to
the side and maybe some chairs if we need them. Don't know if they can
get on the floor or not, they would be 68-70 yrs. I have a stroboframe
I could use, ...what is my best bet here? I will use what I have to,
but I would like to do it with the least amount of equipment as possible. I am worried about the f5.6 not being sharp enough for a group too... I so appreciate any help, I want to do a really good job.
