flash

hi, I was wongering if anyone knew if it has been proven (or not) if using a flash, say in a museum or an art gallery actually changes the colours, or aids in the deteriation of the piece??

  A flash is light.

I really have no idea, but when it comes to million dollar paintings, I'm just not gutsy enough to take the chance. I would imagine it could, given the fact that thousands of people each week would be popping flashes were it allowed.

Have fun and keep shooting,

  Seleney,

Sometimes flash reflection on the glass door or other barriers inside a museum can turn out to be quite a deterrent while using a flash inside a museum from a photography perspective. However inside Louvre museum I have see people using flash at will. Yes it disturbs the peace but then it is subjective and not everyone bothers...Unless not allowed use your discretion.

Thousands each week would approximate a half to a second each week of weak light. During the busy season.
It's more about counterfitting and cutting into their souvenir sales.
