Photography Question

Vertical stripe through photos

I've taken about 12 rolls of film through and older Minolta SRT-100 35mm SLR. Most of the shots have turned out, but 4 shots on one roll displayed the orange, vertical stripe that you see in the attached photo. Can you give me an idea what is causing these stripes?

  Hi Jon;

My question is this-is the stripe always in the same area of the photographs?

  Yes; it is always in the same area. But also, just out of curiosity, what if it weren't?

  Since it's in the same place, I'll bet that you have the same problem that I had with the XG-9 I used to have. The felt seal around the film door is worn out. The only time you see it is when you are shooting in bright light.

I would say that even if it were changing position. That would tell me that a piece of felt was across the door channel.

Take it to a repair shop, but be prepared for sticker shock. It'll probably cost more to fix it than to buy a new camera.

Have fun and keep shooting,
Mark H.
