Photography Question

What to charge for Politician Head Shot

Hi there,

I am hoping some of you can give me a little advice! I've been asked to take portraits of a local policitian for his website and other publications. Since I need to give the electronic file to the web designer, what should I charge? I plan to provide him with proofs of all images and then the electronic file of the images he selects. Any advice on what I should charge or another way to handle this situation, would be thoroughly appreciated. I need to respond with my fee by tomorrow!! Please help!
Thank you!

What to charge for Politician Head Shot?

That depends, will it be from the Book Depository or the Grassy Knoll?

Sorry, I couldn't pass that one up.

going rate for hitmen runs anywhere from $25K - $100K and up. I'm sure a politician is going to be up in the millions. just make sure you hide the body well.

Okay, I'm embarassed! Can I delete the question and rephrase it? Although I don't want to ruin everyone's fun! But on a serious note, I really do need to advice on what to charge for use on a website and publications!

Republican or Democrat? If he's a Republican, I'd say $600 bucks. Democrat, 1/2 that, less the usual tax incentive to pay within 30 days or by the end of the fiscal year, whichever comes later.
(No, I'm NOT kidding).

Actually Leslie, I have a friend who turned out to be our local Congressman. I don't charge him but construe it as a political contribution worth about 600 bucks every time I take a photograph of him for media releases, etc. It's essentially PR/portrait photography. So I charge a day rate even if it only takes a couple of hours. Then I let him buy me breakfast or lunch.

Thanks so much. I plan to go in a little under your suggestion. PS.. He's a Democrat like most people at the Mass. State House! :)

Ya'll better be careful -- the government is probably monitering this right now, and now some of you could be on America's Most Wanted list for being hitmen! FREE hitmen at that!! Just kidding.
Hope you found the answer you were looking for Leslie. I have no sound advice on the subject, but I enjoy being the occasional smart ass. :)
By the way, I'm not democrat or republican, but I would vote for Hilary if she ran for president....
