How to add lighting to inside picture taking?

We are taking our own pictures at our daughters wedding, and we took some test pictures the other day and they were a little dark, What suggestions do you have for us for adding extra indoor lighting? Should we bring in spotlights and have them reflect off silver covered boards or any other suggestions? Thank you and would it help if we used 800speed film?

Any type of standard household lighting is going to discolor your prints if you use a film camera. I'm not sure about digital. If using a film camera, you can use incandescent of flourescent lighting with the use of correctional filters. Faster film always helps, but your prints may be grainy. The new films of today don't show grain as much as the films of the early years, but they can turn out grainy if conditions aren't right.

I don't suggest the use of spotlights due to heat. I've got a set of halogen lights that almost can be used as a furnace. If not set far enough back, they can cause your subjects to sweat.

Have a great night and keep shooting.

  Sara,
If it were me and I did not want any type of studio lighting yet,
I would start watching ebay an dpick up a couple cheaper flash units and some slaves.
I have set these in capture areas at weddings on tripods or on a foot and they then provide thet extra flash of light needed for a good shot with good color.
and will not add the heat Mark is telling you to beware of.
I do hope this helps,
Debby
