Craig Paulsen

be nice

remember that you're typing to another person who has feelings and desires to be appreciated and respected just like you do.

  Craig,
I liked your other post that nobody responded to, where you also said that people should remember to be honest and only post things that they know to be true. That's also good to remember.

Chris

Honest? Does that mean I can no longer post that I'm only 29? Gee!

Sounds like good advice Craig.

  computers don't have feelings! j/k

anyways we also must be open-minded and really quickly not assume that someone is attacking us. its funny, I do this alot. take somebody's post and read it in your mind with an angry attitude. now reread the same post with a sarcastic attitude. now reread the same thing with a gentle, kind attitude. the most important thing to remember is that no matter how we write something, it can come out to someone badly even if you didn't mean it. if you're having a really grumpy day maybe we should back off of BP for a while until we cool down before we post.

**Note: something that we ALL must remember is that any digital vs. film posts are bound to get ugly, no matter your intentions. everyone gets defensive. I mean I might as well as to say your momma is ugly. (not your momma, but an example) she may be ugly to me, but of course she isn't to you. I guess we should remeber this for everything. everyone has their preferences

I think very often, people are intending sarcasm and end up sounding just plain mean. Maybe we should tone down the sarcasm a bit? Not everyone gets it.

It's OK just so long as you don't tell me I'M ugly. Hey, it may be the truth but please don't remind me!

It's good to see you both adding some humor to the situation....! I think if we keep in mind that the site itself is visited by people from all different areas, experience, and personalities...& remember foremost that they are here because they love photography...we won't be so quick to take things "personally".

I agree with everything said on BP. I agree that every image on this site is wonderful. I agree that you are a better photographer than I am. I agree to agree with what ever you think. How boring

I must have been lucky so far...I am pretty thick skinned though. I'm here to learn. I've had some great advice offered on my gallery and I appreciate it and have learned from it. I guess if I thought I was all that - maybe it would have bothered me. Maybe it's an ego thing....

  Be yourself.

Talk about photography.

Be honest.

If you want to make up exaggerated stories about yourself, don't do it here. Instead, write your supposedly-true memoirs and sell it to Oprah.

If you want to role-play and pretend you're someone you are not, don't do it here. Instead, go to a gaming site or a chatroom.

Later,
Chris

  Craig Z,
You have Craig Paulsen confused with someone else. The guy who said he "wanted out" and was "runnning off naked" was named Christopher Walrath. It looks like he really did delete his account and hit the road.

In case anyone forgot, a couple of guys here (with quite a bit of experience) disagreed with some advice he gave someone, and he lost his cool. Pity. Until that point he seemed like a decent guy and had a nice gallery.

I shouldn't have to remind you who Craig Paulsen really is. That's a whole 'nutha can of worms. ;-)

Chris

  hey Craig, Im Craig
my parents named me that because it wasn't popular at the time.

Anyway, I think you deserve an upgrade on your camera. Your comp is great, but I can tell you're using a low end cam because of the quality. Or could it be the lens? I always notice when the way a picture looks and then I look at what camera took it and they lack a certain quality. But it could be a cheap lens on a cheap camera? If you could(or any of us could) get a M2n you would see how good you really are. Then if you are good with PS then you will be amazed

The comp and light are the most important, but the right tools make the art more fun

I think 480px on the long side and 72dpi isn't a just way of judging the quality of a camera. The pic in my gal. "Her Beautiful Hair" doesn't look all that great on the screen but I just printed a 16x20 the other day with Kodak Polycontrast IV paper and man did it turn out amazing. even down to her eyelashes are razor sharp so i'll have to KINDLY GENTLY disagree with you on that one. but then again, i'm a filmer so I can't tell the digital quality either.

that's the thing, I don't think you're a fictional character. I could care less if yo'ure making a name up or not, doesn't bother me much. I was just disagreeing with the statement no matter who wrote it, even if monte zucker himself wrote it.

who says I didn't? Do parent's not get on their kids, even if they love them? and this isn't a site about caring, per se, but a site about exchanging information. oh well i'm not tryign to argue, just discuss

  hey justin,
i was one of those who went into service who knew everything, and a chip on my shoulder.they straightened me out.
and as far as an apology for making a mistake,it doesn't hurt at all.
aren't you getting out of service and moving back to indy?
and I love the tasmanian devil.
i just got home from practice with my older boys team.the ongoing argument is the one loss they have in 7 games.i'm the coach,i didn't prepare them or adjust.they claim it was their fault because they made so many mistakes.these are 10 and 11 year old kids who are willing to take responsibility for their actions.
i think it applies here because so many tend to blame.or say I have the answer.
c'mon.
take in what you want and disregard the rest.
yeah
