Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?

To buy PS or PSE? That's the $600 question. Has anyone used both? Can you tell me the pros and cons of why to use one over the other. I've downloaded the PSE 3 and it keep crashing. Not sure why. I downloaded it onto two different computers and it's doing it on both. Any thoughts or advice about which would be for an AM-A-TURE hobbiest? Although I love it and have done computer graphics in that past, see some of my images at http://www.flickr.com/photos/obedientmuse/ I'm not sure what the benifit of all those tools on the full version, but then if Elements is crashing now?... HELP...

Sounds Like You Need PSE 4 Tami, Sure PS Versions Have A Little More To Offer But For The Cost Difference And Your Self Described Level It Would Not Be That Beneficial. As Far As The Crashing Of The Program Maybe The File Didn't Download Properly Or You Have A Lack Of Memory To Run The Program.
Most Adobe Products Don't Really Have Problems With Crashing Its Usually Your Computer Or A Corrupted Downloaded File, Especially If Your Using A Slow Internet Connection.

I agree, PSE. Thanks Terry, all you said were those things I looked into. I figured out that iPhoto and PSE don't like each other. I can't move between both easily and it's prone to crashing. I do need a computer with more memory and a faster processor. God, just can't keep current, and my ibook is only just over two years old. My macmini's (work) are fast enough... I'm not sold on which way to go... Are you PC or MAC? If MAC which do you suggest?

LOL! I used to say the same. No matter.

What software do you use? I love, love Sunset on Another Planet. What software did you use on that? There isn't one image of your gallery I don't like. God, I hate it when people gush, but cripes, it's true, well, IMO. Very few times do I run across someone's work where I keep looking for, "show me one I don't like", and don't find it. Nice.

Terry, sorry I haven't replied. I've been busy with PS CS2! I love it! I just bit the bullet and bought a new mac and the CS2. I'm in heaven. Now it's a matter of carving out the time to sit with it all. I'm taking a photoshop course here with Katherine, uhm, her last name escapes me. It's a beginner class and I probably know most of it, but I need a good foundation. I don't know layers worth a... And I want to KNOW it well. Thanks for the links.
