zooming and panning question

Hi

I have a Nikon 8700, and I would really like to beable to take a pic while panning however, if I put the camera on shutter speed prioty and try panning, as soon as I press the shutter realease the lCD screen goes black so I can't follow the object, is there any way around this?

Same thing happens with any SLR. Just practice turning smoothly at the same speed as your subject. I find this easier to do with the camera up to the eye (looking through the viewfinder) than held out in front of me (looking at LCD).

  Oops, clicked too soon.
I forgot to add that, while looking through the viewfinder with one eye, keep the other eye open to help keep the camera on the subject even though the viewfinder goes black.
