Please critique my gallery... I check this site everyday and am amazed by many of the photos I see here. I recieved my camera for Xmas and am slowly learning the how-to's. I have a background in art so I feel my composition and photo subjects are fairly good. However, I would be grateful for any feedback that may help me. Specifically, it seems that my pics don't jump off of the page. Also, I have Photoshop CS2 but have not installed it yet (Photosuite 5.5 came with my camera and I have been using that). I'm becoming obsessed with taking photos and any criticism would only help me become better. Thanks in advance!

Photosuite 5.5 is great to use, but there is a free one out that is similar to Photosuite 5.5. It is called PhotoFiltre and can be found here: http://www.photofiltre.com/ I use this software in conjunction with Photosuite 5.5. Although, I am hoping to take on Photoshop Element or CS2 down the road. For now this is a great tools for me. TL

Welcome to photography Jason. It's a fun filled learning experience! Your squirrel shot I liked; the composition placement and detail. I thought your flower picture could be better if you hadn't blown the highlights out so much. Keep shooting and having fun.

Hi Jason. I looked at your gallery. I found most shots to be well framed, but my problem lies with the shots of Niagara Falls. Next time, you may want to slow the shutter speed to soften the water. Slow shutter speeds, I usually use 1 sec or longer, let the drops of water streak or "angel hair". It gives the falls a softer look. Keep shooting and have a great day.

First of all Thomas, let me thank you for tipping me off to photofiltre. I've downloaded it and I'm going to see if I like it tonight. As for your gallery, I was quite impressed, save for one print. In Cloudy day, Half the print is black. This causes the print to seem half blank. I would have probably angled my camera lower so the very edge of the dark sky was at the top of the frame. I would also have tried to capture the horizon. This print just seems lifeless. There,s no pop. Have a great evening and keep shooting.
