is it the lenses or is it me have a fuji fine pix s3000 and bought 2 lenses for it on ebay. a telephoto lens and a wide angle lens that comes apart to be used for micro photos.. they do not work the telephoto lens does nothing and the others blur and distort the image.. these are not the black lenses sold by fuji but the metal ones that sell for $80.+ for both.

Kidding! It is probably the lenses - I presume you're talking about the add-on lenses that screw on to the front of the lens on the Finepix, yes? Some of those types of lenses are pretty good, but others simply are not. Just as a guess, at the price you paid for both I would surmise that those are not very high quality. Sorry... But have a Happy '06 anyway!

i have to use an adaptor and then another adaptor ring to screw on the lenses and you'd think they'd do something.... here is a link to an ebay page selling the lenses but not together http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=lenses+for+fujifilm+finepix+s3000&category0=

Brigitte, Did you ever find out what the problem was with the add on Lenses that you bought? I have a Fuji FinePix S5100 and bought add on Lenses and I am having similar issues. I have been searching for tips and suggestions to see if it is me or the lenses. If you get a chance, please let me know. Thanks!!

Brigitte & Joseph, Spend the $$ for the best you can get. Most of my lenses are L lenses as I consider the lenses to be more important than the camera. The camera will advance and they all do a good job of capturing images. The lenses are what will give the images its color, contrast & sharpness and will work with future camera's. Like in audio equipment - if you spend $1500 on a stereo with $400 speakers, it will sound like a $400 system - spend $400 on the stereo and $1500 on speakers, it will totally rock the house. The camera can only perform as well as the glass you have in front of it. I had a Fuji S602 and it had a very nice fixed lens. Try shooting something without the new add on lenses and then shoot again with them and see what the difference is. Spend some time shooting several photos at different distances & apertures and see where the lens sweet spot is. Like my 100-400 L - it takes great photos overall but at f/7.1 thru f/11 and around 335mm, it really seems to reach another level in its contrast and sharpness. Hope this helps.

i replaced the s3000 with an s9000 more than a year ago. the s9000 has 10X's optical zoom. with the 3000 I found that adding the telephoto lens made absolutely no difference at any setting and adding the macro lens simply caused distortion. similar add ons came with my s9000 and the telephoto lense works ok not great but ok if the camera is on the aperture setting..

Thanks for the replies Brigitte and Carlton. My S5100 also has a 10x zoom but the pictures were terrible when using the telephoto. I would remove it and everything looked great. I have not tried it in the aperture setting so I will do that today. I love the way the filters and wide angle lens work out of the kit I bought but the telephoto was just plain ugly. Thanks again for the replies and if you have any other tips to try, please send them my way.
