Do film lens work on digital cameras?

I have a auto promaster lens for a Konica Minolta film camera, and I just bought a digital Konica Minolta 7D. Can I use the film lens for my digital camera?

Chances are that it will if it's the same mount, but there are some drawbacks. Here's a similar question with some awnsers.

I have a Minolta 7 film SLR and have been watching the 7D/5D closely. It was my understanding that all of your AF lenses for the film Minolta mount WILL work with the digital Minolta... there is just some calculating involved with the focal length because of the distance from the back of the lens to the digital sensor instead of the film.
