hey jacob, i'm going to try not to steer you wrong?i don't remember the 40. is it a a-type bayonet mount? is it also a maxxum? i have the lens you mentioned made for maxxum a-type bayonet mount cameras. my xtsi and htsi-plus are also referred to as dynax. so i'm pretty sure your in business, however you might want to go to www.minoltausa.com and see if you can get some more info. sam
