Contest ending Ok this is probably on the site somewhere, but when does the contests end each month and the photos judged?

The contest ends for the current month at the end of each month and starts over at the first of each month. I believe BP begins judging as soon as a month is completed but it takes them about 3 weeks to wade through the entries. The results are announced the 21st give or take a couple of days.

I am new, so do you have to re-enter photos or if you photo does not win, does it stay in until it does or until you remove it??? I just entered a couple that I feel are good and would love comments & such on them. If I have to re-enter, I would like to remove ASAP so I can re-enter on the 1st. Thanks!!

Christy, if they just stayed in the contest until they won, we would have over a million photos in the contest, so no you have to reenter them every month. I don't know why you would want to remove them then enter them on the 1st though? Because you can enter the same photo every month if you want.

Keep in mind, Christy, that you can only enter 1 pic per day into the contest pool, and each pic can only be entered once per monthly contest. (It sounded as if you planned to submit several pics into the contest right on January 1!) Also, if you delete a pic (only to re-upload it) you will lose any discussion thread on that original pic. Brendan's right--just leave your would-be winners in your gallery, and hit the "Enter Contest" link for a particular pic, when you're ready!

I know I can only enter 1 per day. I have a couple in mind to enter for January. I think I may have entered 2 of my "best" photos too late in the month to get any comments on them. Thanks for you help, you guys have been great, much better then the site I am coming from!

There is an interesting catch to entering photos into the contest, when the photo already lives in your gallery. The Picture ID that is assigned when you first uploaded your pic (say, 3 months ago) controls the sequence in the "Recent Contest Entries." So if you enter a gallery pic which is 3 months old, into the contest today, it will have a lower Pic ID# sequentially, than someone who just uploaded their entry this morning---your pic would likely appear near the back of all the December entries for a particular theme---and perhaps less likely to be spotted there, by the casual Contest observer. (But still seen by the judges!!)
