How to select a background in PSE3?

Is there a way to select the whole background with one click if it is NOT a solid colored background? (I am working with Photoshop Elements 3.0)

  Hi Jennifer,
I am afraid there is no "one-click" method, but if you use the Magic Wand Tool, click on the background, then go to "Select" and chose "Similar", this will select all the similar pixels.
Depending on how many colors are in the background you may have to repeat these steps this a couple of times.
Hope this helps
Deb
