Photography Question

MPIX

My wife asked me to enlarge a couple of digital photos that I had to 11x14. I had been looking at the Mpix.com web site and was interested in the Metallic paper that they offered. I thought here was a chance to try it out. I have to say that I could not have been more pleased with the results. I was concerned with the 120 ppi that I had to use, even though Mpix recommend a minimum of 100 ppi for good results. I downloaded in TIF format, and the results were spectacular. I will use Mpix again

I've heard a lot of good things about mpix, but haven't had an opportunity to try them yet. What is different about the metallic paper? Can you use it for any picture? I'm new to photography, so I'm not sure what the 120 ppi means.

The metallic paper is excellent. I use it on the prints of the custom autos I make for the owners (16x20) and they love them. The metallic paper really helps the autos look great. I have one that I use as a sample and as soon as I show it, I have other hot rod owners walking up and asking how much.

One the whole, I love mpix.com and have absolutely no complaints.

Kathy: From what I can see the difference between regular photo paper and Metallic photo paper, is the same difference as between a regular paint job and a Metallic paint job on Robert’s Hot Rods. Ppi means pixels per inch. The higher the number the better the resolution. I like to keep it above 200, but on these photos with cropping 120 was the best I could do

Good way of explaining it Ed.. :)

I have been using MPIX for over a year and have only had a few printing issues with them, which they re-did them for me and was very apologetic about it. Very nice customer service. Prints are excellent and I have used both the Matte and Metallic. Can't beat the prices either.

Michele :)

I had the pleasure of usin MPIX for the first time last week. I have not used the Metallic paper yet, but I did enlarge a photo to 8X8 Canvas on Matboard. I shoot film and scanned the negitive to the site. I am VERY happy with my print because I used 400 ISO film and there is no grain in the print at all.

I agree with Michele on the prices also...
Marquee
