Here's the picture. I went out after the storm last nite and took several pix, they all looked like this with the sky looking orange. I was wondering what I did wrong?

well kathy,i don't have much of a clue on digital,i'm a film guy.but I do read,so.guessing here.was your camera set for a different lighting situation, like flouresent?there's like a double rainbow somewhere in there, kinda didn't come through.there's a bunch of digital folks here.and almost all of them ,besides me,have a clue.
be patient,i would like to know also, sam

What did the sky look like when you took the picture? Was it a greenish kind of haze? I know sometime after a storm greens look incredibly saturated and there's some kind of a green haze in the sky. I'm guessing the white balance was set to auto and possibly the camera thought that it was florescent or some other color temperature/hue than normal because of an unnatural hue. If you shot in raw mode you can go back an correct it for daylight white balance, other wise you'll probably have to correct it manually in photoshop.

auto white balance is usually pretty good but I also keep it set to daylight balanced so I get the effects of film and then I can change it afterwards using something like auto levels or auto color in photoshop.

I like to shoot in Raw so I can change the white balance in photoshop when I open it up. Changing the white balance or color temperature can give you a wide range of blues to oranges.

Once I accidentally left my white balance on tungsten when I took an outdoor shot on a cloudy day and the picture looked VERY blue. Blue is not a flattering color for two people have their engagement pictures done!

I have adobe photoshop elements 2. I can't figure out how to open my images in raw format, but in my canon software that came with the camera I am learning to do it.

  hey kathy,
i thought you were the one taking those combine pictures, beans i'd guess.boy if you could take them as the sun is setting.the shadows are better, the light is better, and the dust rolling off the bean head?the trail of dust as it meanders down through the valley by the creek?yeah I was out tonight.my neighbor who was cutting had to shut down about a 1/2 hour after sunset because the beans got tough, choking the combine.
won't know till I finish the roll and get them developed if i'm actually learning anything?
glad you got some help,sam

I agree Sam, but the opportunity came up to go and I went. I am wanting to go at dusk though, i'm hoping to ride in the combine for harvest of the corn.
