Can I have your thoughts?

I have been shooting for sometime now, and need some help. I was wondering if anybody has any advice for me? Please look at my gallery and critique it for me. Thanks for your comments in advance.

Well, I love the shot of the baby in the hand. The moody lighting, composition and the calm way the baby is looking at you is outstanding! It is my very favorite shot!!

When I looked at most of the rest of the shots you had up on your site. I felt distracted by the amount of digital effects going on.

For example I think the shot of the little girl with the pink background would look better if you color corrected for her skin tone.

I like the bright yellow and blue of the lemon shot, I'm a sucker for color contrast, but am disappointed by the look of the top of the lemon. Looks like you may have over exposed the image and so lost alot of detail in the top of the lemon. Unfortuneatly the ditigal editing I think has only enhanced this boo boo.

The "little Bride to be" picture is sweet. I love the expression of the little girl and the light gently shining onto her face. Something about the sharpness of it was distracting though. Did you use a special filter? Or maybe it's just pixelated or something. Adding a gentle soft focus filter to the sharper version of this picture would really add to the gentle and sweet mood of this shot.

So in the end, my advice would be to be careful when editing photographs. Becareful not to distract the viewer away from your subject with editing. But hey that's only my opinon! :)

I love to hear what you think of my pics if you feel up to it!! I also could use some feedback.

Michelle :)

you are exactly right about the lemon shoot. I took it at 3 in the am and completly overexposed it. The shot of the girl in window, I scanned it in. It was 35, but now I see how digital effects can help. thanks for help, I will look at your images again.

Great idea about blurring the background! I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I'm shooting a newborn on sunday, any thoughts or pointers. also, the baby was shot straight out. when foto was taken she was 4months old. I live the irony of it. Her dad is a monster of a fella. It shows parenting and the love of a father.
