HEY Colette! I AM NO EXPERT (that's my disclaimer) :)

The only thing I might change if it were my photo, is the intensity of his eye color. The whole photo is so muted and "classic" looking, maybe lower the opacity of the blue. OR you can take the photo before you add the blue (did you paint it in?) and use the paintbrush, but as a History brush and brush over his eye to bring the real color back. Then from there, you can select the eye color, if it's too dark, and do some curves or brightness adjustments on it to brighten it a little. Hope that helps.

If I'm speaking another language, let me know. I'll help in any way I can. I'm pretty new to PS, too, and I know I don't use it the way a pro would.

It is really a GORGEOUS composite, though! I haven't figured out how to make one of those, yet! I'm just dealing with colors, levels and curves for now. GREAT JOB!

I agree with exactly what Laura stated. I think that when you first get photoshop you play around and discover all sorts of interesting effects. This is fabulous!!! Because that is how you learn photoshop!! Keep it up, you will learn a lot more!! I think that it is easy at first to 'overkill' the coloring options in photoshop because it is so cool and different than what you normally see. But, after a while stand back from your piece and see if it meshes as a whole. For example, take a break from the shot for a day or two so when you come back look at it with a fresh eye. Notice the tones and the lines that you have cropped, do they still look natural to you? Or, is it the overall message you wanted to state even if it is NOT natural.
Another important aspect when starting photoshop is a good callibration of your monitor because if you manipulate you need to know what you are REALLY doing to the shot.
Hope this helps!
Melissa

Thank you both for your helpfull comments and suggestions, I think I will see what it looks like if I take the color out of the eye, or mabey play around with the color to tone it down!!! Also, do you think that the moms face looks pixilated? Someone told me that it did, but im not sure, I want to send it to the printers, but want to make sure that her skin will come out clear. So any suggestions there would be great, also if anyone has any coments of the other portraits in my gallery (all the ones of the mother and son, are ones that I fixed up in Photoshop), any suggestions or anything!!!!

Thanks again so much for all of your help!!!

I have to agree with Laura and Melissa. To me the eye color is very unnatural. I think if you brought back his original eye color it would make for a better photo.
